Detox your home and body

Who doesn’t love the satisfaction of a clean and fresh smelling room?  Our spaces are our sanctuaries, but before you grab your household cleaner, check out the label.  We are surrounded by chemicals even if we are completely unaware of their existence.  As you relax and sit in your upholstered chair with your tablet in hand, you may be sitting in a chair that has been treated with flame retardants and contains PFCs.  The tablet in hand may have TBBPA  also known as tetrabromobisphenol which is applied to electronics as a flame retardant.  The carpet under your feet may have been treated with formaldehyde.  Those chemicals have been linked to thyroid disorders and fertility issues to name just two in a long list of health issues caused by these common chemical agents.  In this season of spring cleaning, awareness is your ally in detoxing your home and your body.  To minimize exposure to chemicals, try using natural agents to clean  your home, look at labels when buying furniture and clothes.  Awareness and information are your best defenses in keeping your home toxicity free.
